Brief Descriptor of Presentation:
Terence Armentano will be presenting on his work in the development of a user friendly weblog and podcast solution for BGSU using open source tools. The BGSU Weblogs and Podcast system enables anyone with a BGSU email address to sign up online and begin blogging and/or podcasting/vodcasting in minutes. The system was designed to be very clean and simple to use. I will also discuss how various faculty, staff, and students use the system in different ways in the educational environment.

Brief Descriptor of Presentation: Tony Emanuel and his colleague, Renee Aitken, will discuss the hesitancy some faculty feel about using technology and how to overcome that using the very popluar You Tube as a class assignment. Both the student perspective and the instructor perspective will be presented. Please bring your questions and concerns as both presenters are looking forward to an active session.

How can we take advantage of the portable devices that our students are bringing into the classroom? Can we turn potential distractions into learning tools? I will highlight an open source solution called Class In Hand.

Brief Descriptor of Presentation: The need for flexible learning options for non-traditional students cannot be overlooked in 2008. This breakout session examines how Miami University is using faculty learning communities and embracing technology to make the dream of a college education a reality to the area in and around Hamilton, Ohio. The tested model of one-one-one and group learning to create an engaging hybrid-based program is explored in this interactive session.

Title: Virtual Worlds and Second Life. Using
Fleep Tuque, Facilitator of the University of Cincinnati Second Life Learning Community and OLN Ambassador to Second Life, will provide an overview of virtual worlds, the current state of the technology and discuss where this technology may sit with other social media and Web2.0 strategies. The session will also include an overview of educational locations in SL and highlight newly created resources on the ClassroomOLN Island.
